Two California utilities said they may cut power to more than 900,000 customers for days starting Wednesday morning because of dry winds that could cause fires. The outages could affect everything from medical devices to street lights, authorities say. https://cnn.it/2VpCkHx

I feel like people shouldn't have to choose between having basic utilities and avoiding massive fires but thats just me

"..because of dry winds that could cause fires." Safety should always be first, imo.

in this case the lack of utilities is potentially lethal as well. No landlines + no internet = less access to contact emergency services or even perform those kind of services for effected affected hospitals

I love how they can over charge us, cause fires, raise rates, go bankrupt, raise rates again, be unaccountable and now shut off power and call it public safety..... PG&E is out of control and we all seem to have to bend over and take it up the a$$.

Southern California Edison is doing same to the eastern Sierras. I have lived in same town over forty years. And now they are thinking about my safety. B.S. they are thinking about their bank account.
